I love playing around with makeup, both doing crazy and normal stuff. This one experiment turned out really nice and I think it’s something that would look good on most girls and women. It’s also quite easy to do even if you’re not used to wearing makeup. It’s a very soft and light daytime look.
I hope you can see on the picture what it’s supposed to look like. My ipod camera doesn’t show the colors that well.
What you need is:
- A light mint green eyeshadow and a taupy brown eyeshadow.
- Black kohl pen eyeliner and black mascara.
- A peachy blush with golden pigments. (A soft bronzer if you want to play up a tan.)
- A lipstick with a creamy finish in a soft medium to dark coral shade.
Start by doing your face to your preference; although this is a natural look you can of course wear more coverage if you want to/need it.
I used Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 110 and 105, applied with my fingers. For concealer and highlight I used a drop of Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation mixed with the Maybelline one. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in C2 to set. I used a loose light brown powder shadow (Bare Minerals Brow Shadow in pale/ash blonde) to contour and a light shimmery loose powder (Make Up Store Loose Powder in Sinai) to add glow to the cheekbones. I filled in my eyebrows with Loreal Color Riche eyebrow pencil in 302 Golden Brown.
The eyes: Start by applying some eyeshadow primer (or if you don’t own one, like me, use a little bit of concealer) on the part of the lid that moves when you blink. Apply the minty shadow by patting the color onto the lid. Also apply a little of the same color in the inner corner of the eye of the lower lid. Clean your brush and lightly apply the taupy shadow in the socketline. Blend carefully, you don’t want any harsh lines outwards, but you also don’t want the shadow to be all over the place.
Apply black liner at the very roots of your upper lashes. This is easier to do if you almost close the eye and put your finger on the lid. Some people prefer to look down when they do it. (That doesn’t work for me.) Curl your lashes with a curling wand (if you don’t have one, don’t worry just skip this step.) Apply mascara, make sure you get down to the root but try not to get mascara on your eyelid. (Although if you do, you can clean it up after with a cotton stick. Don’t forget to reapply the minty shade after if you do.) Use a zigzag motion at the roots then go upwards, this will make your lashes look thicker and longer. Then before they are dry, use your finger to curl the lashes upwards and hold them up for a minute while they dry. This trick will make them stay pointing upwards and will open up your eyes. I didn’t apply any mascara on the lower lashes for this look.
Apply lipstick, and you’re good to go!
